Windows Server Engineers

The team manages the production, operations, and engineering of data centers, voice and data networking solutions, wireless technologies, server and database operations, desktops, servers and mainframes.

The Windows Operations group provides a stable, yet agile and dynamic infrastructure platform to support the business functional requirements whilst managing associated risks. The team has presence in several cities across the globe including Budapest and its responsibility is based around operational stability and production engineering of a large global Windows Server environment.

The job:

  • Maintain technology infrastructure, providing operational stability by following and using the tools, policies, processes and procedures available.
  • Responding to L1 and L2 escalations.
  • Resolve Incidents impacting hosts or environment.
  • Create, review, maintain and update documentation.
  • Work with global colleagues to provide globally consistent processes and procedures.
  • Investigate and Troubleshoot root causes via problem management.
  • Escalate and liaise with additional internal/external groups when required, resulting in satisfactory resolution.
  • Dissemination of knowledge amongst colleagues.
  • Integrate and Interact with regional and global colleagues, providing innovative ideas.
  • Active participation within and amongst teams and colleagues, providing constructive feedback when necessary.
  • Identify areas for process improvement, automation and scripting wherever possible.
  • Evaluate, discuss, listen to and re-think ideas to move forwards in a productive manner.
  • Responsibility for the planning and controlled execution of releases into the managed environment.
  • Work with Engineering groups to deliver value to customers.
  • Input into Business Continuity Planning and Practices.

The requirements:

  • MSc or BSc degree in computer science, engineering or related technical field.
  • Good command of English.
  • Experience in Windows Operating Systems, Server 2003, 2008R2 and 2012.
  • Understanding of virtualisation technologies for example XenDesktop, XenApp, vCenter.
  • SQL administration and basic development experience (preferably with Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Experience with a BI solution or Reporting/analyses tool (e.g. SSIS, SSRS, QlikView, Tableau)
  • Scripting skills (Powershell)
  • Clustering and Storage Management technologies.
  • Understanding of Network layers.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft core services: DFS, DFS-R, DNS, Printing.

Application and Infrastructure Operation Team Lead (IT)

for the Tools & Services unit.

Our unit develops and operates various systems and software for supporting services delivered by Ericsson to its customers. The tools cover a wide scope such as remote access, network planning and network performance monitoring.

As the Application and Infrastructure Operation Team Lead you will be responsible leading the daily operation of an IT infrastructure (network, server) and application.

Main tasks:
• Provide management of all IT Operations Daily Tasks
• Investigate any alerts and issues identified by monitoring systems, and provide appropriate responses in line with Service Level Agreements (SLA’s)
•Lead a team of ~5 operation engineers.
•Ensure the quality and efficiency of the operation activities
•Act as a prime contact for infrastructure operation matters
•Plan and estimate activities.
•Define acceptance criteria for the deliverables.
•Create and prioritize activities in the product backlog of the team.
•Handle the Kanban board of the team.
•Manage workload and performance within team
•Ensure system performance and availability targets met.
•Report progress towards the Operations Manager.
Requirements:
•MSc or BSc degree in computer science, engineering or related.
•Experience in IT operational support in a complex IT environment (+3 years)
•Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems and TCP/IP networks.
•A solid understanding of Virtualisation technologies, and the day to day support of virtualised IT systems.
•Knowledge of IT security.
•Experience as IT team leader.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•Leadership, mentoring and motivational skills.
•Strong problem solving and analytical skills, structured work approach.
•Fluent English is a must.
•ITIL certification is an advantage.

Ericsson Hungary R&D is looking for a

Linux Developer

for the Linux Center which is part of the Middleware IP and OS development center.

The team is responsible for developing Linux based components for a wide range of Ericsson solutions. We have some consulting assignments too (studies, prototyping etc.), we are supporting applications and doing many other activities in order to ease the use of Linux within the company.

Main tasks:

  • We are responsible for the OS layer (LDE) and virtualization (SVP) layer in Component Based Architecture.
  • The Linux Distribution Extension (LDE) as a CBA common component provides a Linux cluster with high availability characteristics.
  • The system is an adapted and pre-configured version of the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) distribution with added cluster level tooling and service.
  • LDE runs also on RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux). (A smaller part of our work to develop drivers i.e. for the GEP boards and we are one of the maintainers in the TIPC community as well.)
  • We work also with support for several applications with their concerns with SLES and RHEL, and when needed we involve Suse and/or Red Hat in troubleshooting and bug fixes.

Requirements:

The job:

  • Create and improve documentation and tooling.
  • Arranging global hygiene projects and performing RCA for system failures.
